The "Jersey Lily"
Taking her beloved nickname from the Channel Island of Jersey, where she was born, Lily Langtry made her stage debut at the Haymarket Theatre as Kate Hardcastle in She Stoops to Conquer.
Stage credits include: Rosalind in As You Like It ; Lady Teazle in The School for Scandal , Mrs Trevelyan in Sidney Grundy's The Degenerates, and most recently play Marion Beaumont in The Sins of Society. Other notable performances include Mrs Deering's Divorce, and The CrossWays which she also wrote.
She has successfully managed several theatres in London between her American tours, including the Imperial Theatre from 1901.
An avid Horse fan she became a successful race-horse owner winning the Gold Cup at Ascot.
She has published an Autobiography, The Day's I knew.
