Kristin Leigh Chabot

Kristin Chabot: Heart of Music

 received her Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Connecticut where she studied in the studio of Constance Rock. She is currently a Master's Degree candidate at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston (NEC), where she will return in the Fall to complete her studies. At the New England Conservatory of Music she studied with Edward Zambara and Carole Haber. At UCONN, Ms. Chabot was frequently cast as female lead in several of the UCONN Opera productions. Among her favorites was the role of Susanna in UCONN Opera's production of Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. Other UCONN opera credits include Miss Silverpeal in Mozart's The Impresario, and Celie in Pasatieri's Signor Deluso. Ms. Chabot was also a member of the gypsy chorus in UCONN Opera's production of Bizet's Carmen adapted and conducted by the late Victor Borge. At NEC, Ms. Chabot performed frequently with the Opera program, being featured in several scenes programs, workshops and masterclasses. Ms. Chabot has also served as diction and language coach for the UCONN ensembles, as well as for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus, and the Greater Middletown Chorale. She has served as Vocal director for the theater department at St. Bernard High School in Montville CT, as well as serving as Choral manager for the Children's ensembles at the New England Conservatory Preparatory Division. Ms. Chabot has toured as featured soprano soloist with several ensembles throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Ms. Chabot is also quite active in the field of operetta and Musical Theater performing such Gilbert and Sullivan roles as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Casilda in The Gondoliers, Lady Saphir in Patience and Rose Maybud in Ruddigore for which she won Connecticut's Eugene O'Neill award for best actress in a Musical Production. Ms. Chabot has performed with Connecticut Opera and as Annina in La Traviata with Opera Theater of Connecticut. Musical Theater credits include: Anna Leonowens in The King and I, Eva Peron in Evita, Julie LaVerne in Show Boat as well as Rosemary in How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Lucy Harris in Jekyll and Hyde and more. Ms. Chabot is a six-time 1st place winner of the honors auditions held by the Connecticut chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and a winner of the Quinnipiac Young Vocal Artists Competition. In 1999, Ms. Chabot was a finalist in the Jenny Lind Competition for Sopranos, as well as a third place winner in Opera Theater of Connecticut's AMICI voice competition. In 2000, Ms. Chabot placed first in the Amici Competition. She has coached with Michael Strauss at NEC, Gary Glaze of the University of Southern California, as well as the late Oren Brown of the Julliard School.

All of her performances are dedicated to the memory of her mother, Elaine (4/37/36-9/18/04).

Be sure to catch Kristin as she performs as the soprano soloist for Gioacchino Rossini's "Petite Messe Sollenelle" on January 14th at Harkness Memorial Chapel on the Connecticut College Campus and on January 21st at St. Michael's Church in Pawcatuck, RI.

Then, April 13,14, 15, 20, 21, & 22, Kristin will perform the role of Muzzy in the Manchester Musical Players production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie", along with a truly stellar cast.
